A MAN visiting friends in Cairns has become an instant millionaire after a random decision to buy a TattsLotto ticket landed him $1 million.
The lucky Western Australian shopper was at the DFO in Cairns when he impulsively decided to grab a ticket in the Monday and Wednesday Gold Lotto draw.
He returned to the TSG DFO Cairns store on Thursday to find he had hit the jackpot.
“I’m over here catching up with friends while on holiday in Cairns and thought I’d buy a ticket in the draw, but I never expected I’d ever win,” he said.
“It still hasn’t sunk in and I’m not sure if it ever will.
“I’ll sit down and process it, try and figure out what to do with it all and go from there.”
TSG DFO manager, Kelly Moran, told the Cairns Post she was still wrapping her head around the man’s win.
It was the first division one winner for the store.
“It is wonderful,” she said.
“He came in on Monday just into the centre to have a look around and a shop and decided to grab a ticket.
“He came in again yesterday morning (Thursday) just randomly to check it and got a big surprise.”
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4185 on Wednesday 25 May 2022 were 32, 16, 1, 28, 37, 24, while the supplementary numbers were 38 and 35.
The WA holiday-maker's said he planned to share his bounty with his family.
“What an amazing holiday it has been,” he said.
