AN emergency flight to assist a seriously injured motorcycle rider on the Atherton Tablelands is the latest job for paramedics who have been flat out in a horrific start to the New Year.
Paramedics on the ground in Ravenshoe are assessing a man in his 40s who sustained significant abdominal and leg injuries following a motorcycle crash on Ascham St and Grigg St at 7.08am.
The Rescue 510 helicopter has left Cairns and expected to arrive and pick up the injured rider from the Ravenshoe State School.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman described the man’s injuries as serious.
It’s expected the man will be flown to Cairns Hospital for treatment after an estimated arrival in Ravenshoe of 8.30am.
Meanwhile, last night woman was transported to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition with a head injury following a two-vehicle crash on Sheridan St and Grove streets at 1.28am. Paramedics were called to another motorcycle crash at White Rock late last night. Two patients were transported to Cairns Hospital in stable conditions. In Port Douglas a girl in her teens was transported to Mossman Hospital in a stable condition with facial injuries following a fall from an e-scooter on Mudlo St at 9.11pm.
In Cairns North a man was injured in a single-vehicle crash and required assistance from QAS.
The man in his 30s was transported to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition with leg injuries following a the crash into a concrete wall on Sheridan St at 8.46pm.
Further north in Rossville yet another young rider came off his motorcycle. A boy in his pre-teens was transported to Cooktown Hospital in a stable condition with a shoulder injury following a motorcycle crash on private property at 6.12pm.
