Around 2000 Cairns residents were unexpectedly left without power after a transport truck became entangled with powerlines at White Rock, including parts of the Bruce Highway and Mulgrave Road.
An Ergon Energy spokesman confirmed 2005 customers were affected by the sudden outage after a car, wich was being transported on a truck, became entangled in powerlines on the corner of Prgress Road and Coombs Street in White Rock at 12.50pm on Tuesday.
The spokesman confirmed power was restored at 1.40pm.
“It looks like they lost power just before 1pm and affected the areas of White Rock, Mount Sheridan, Edmonton and Westcourt,” the spokesman said.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman confirmed one crew was assisting on scene.
“It looks like a truck transporting cars came into contact with overhead powerlines and the lines are entangled with one of the cars on the back of the truck. Ergon have isolated power to the area,” the spokeswoman said.
