Shocking footage has emerged of an alleged unprovoked assault at a popular Geelong night spot, with one employee rushed to hospital with serious and painful injuries.

Staff at The 18th Amendment Bar in Geelong’s CBD have been left shaken by the incident, with one member suffering four broken ribs after being violently pushed to the ground.

The incident occurred at around 11pm on Saturday night.

Business owner Gorge Camorra said the frightening attack, which shows a man approach people at the door of his Little Malop St venue and physically push two people to the ground.

He then started pushing another man who tried to intervene.

“This guy just started punching the windows of a friend’s business across the road and one of my staff just asked ‘mate, what are you doing?’,” Mr Camorra said.

“I am frustrated by it, our staff are just trying to do our job on the door and we shouldn’t have to be dealing with that.

“My staff member just got out of hospital this morning, he has three cracked ribs on the left side and another on his right. He can’t lift his arm up.”

Victoria Police spokesman Sam Bidey said officers were following “numerous lines of inquiry” and investigations were ongoing.

“Police are also investigating another incident that occurred outside the same venue a short time later where several people, believed to be known to each other, were involved in an assault,” he said

Mr Camorra said he had noticed a spike in the number of intoxicated and unsociable people walking the streets since the start of December.

“It’s just drunken Christmas parties at the moment, people just need to calm down a bit,” he said.

“We need to tone it down at this time of the year, staff don’t need to go to work and end up in hospital for no reason.

“This guy tried to punch on with me on the street and having a go, and I just made him stay until the police came.”
