Top End set for humid conditions while Alice Springs is in for freezing temps

Alice Springs is in for some cold weather while the humidity is sticking around in Darwin.

Wild rains lash Darwin

ALICE Springs faced a freezing morning and wet conditions on Wednesday and the temperatures are only set to get a little warmer over the coming week.

Those in the Red Centre faced a maximum temperature of 13C on Wednesday.

Bureau of Meteorology NT forecaster Moses Raiko said that temperatures would only go up slightly over the week.

“In Alice Springs, there were cloudy, cool and wet conditions today but we’re expecting the cloud climate to break up a little bit and become a bit more patchy from tomorrow,” Mr Raiko said.

There is a 20 per cent change of rain for Alice Springs every day this week from Thursday.

With varying degrees of cloudiness each day, the Red Centre is expected to consistently have cool winds all week.

Temperatures could be anywhere between 13C and 20C up until Sunday.

Mr Raiko said that in contrast with Alice Springs, Darwin’s humidity would be hanging around.

“Basically the humidity is hanging around today, it might dry a little during the afternoon periods of Thursday and Friday but still remaining humid overnight around the Darwin area,” he said.

“So basically we’re not seeing drastic return to dry season conditions just yet for Darwin, humidity is going to hang around a little bit longer.”
