Alice Springs hit by crime spree with at least six homes, businesses broken into within 24 hours
A raft of assaults in Alice Springs has left the town shaken and disgruntled, with at least six break-ins reported to police in the span of 24 hours from Monday to Tuesday.

A raft of assaults in Alice Springs has left the town shaken and upset, with at least six break-ins reported to police in the span of 24 hours from Monday to Tuesday.
The spree started at about 6.10am on Monday, after police received reports that a number of alleged offenders had broken into an empty home on Rieff Ct, Sadadeen.
A spokesperson for Northern Territory Police said it was not clear if any items were stolen, however investigations remained ongoing.
Later that day about 11.40pm, police responded to a report in which two unknown males had allegedly entered a home on McMinn St, East Side.
From here, the spokesperson alleged the offenders stole a vehicle, which was recovered later that night on Plowman St, Gillen.
The spokesperson said the offenders remained at large and investigations were ongoing.
Hours later at about 1.20am on Tuesday, an alleged offender broke into a home on Tietkins Avenue, Braitling.
Upon confrontation with the homeowner, the alleged offender, who was armed with a pair of scissors and carrying alcohol at the time, fled the scene.
Police say investigations remain ongoing.
Not even half an hour later at about 1.45am, three alleged offenders broke into a home on Burke St, East Side.
Police allege the group fled the home after they were confronted by the homeowner.
Despite the confrontation, a vehicle was allegedly stolen from the carport.
The vehicle was later located abandoned on Burke St and seized by police.
Police say investigations remain ongoing.
About 3.05am, police received another home break in report.
In this incident, a number of alleged offenders broke into an office on Elder St, Ciccone.
A spokesperson for NT Police said the office was allegedly rummaged through and it was not known if any items were stolen.
At the time of publication, investigations remain ongoing.
Less than two hours later in an unrelated incident, a Tyreright, which was located on the same street, was broken into.
Police received reports of the incident about 4.45am, when it was alleged an unknown number of offenders had entered the business’ premises.
A glass window was allegedly broken and drawers were rummaged through, with cash being stolen.
Investigations remain ongoing, police say.
