A confused Queensland driver has been blasted online after he was caught causing havoc and holding up a tram in Sydney’s CBD.
In a video shared to Reddit, a car with a Queensland number plate is seen driving in the light rail lane while a busy tram packed with commuters is forced to grind to a halt.
After momentarily waiting for the car, the tram eventually manoeuvres past the vehicle, which seems to park on the side of the track.
According to the Reddit user who shared the video, the incident occurred in front of the Queen Victoria Building after the car made an “illegal left turn on Market St onto [the] light rail”.
“[The] tram driver keeps horning and [the] car would not move and tries to park on the side of the track!” they wrote.
Many were quick to blast the driver in the comments, calling out what some branded “typical” Queensland behaviour.
“Queenslanders.. shakes head,” one person wrote.
“Typical Queenslanders,” said another.
“What the f*** is wrong with people?” another commented.
“Us Queenslanders leave no stone unturned when seeking a parking spot,” another wrote.
However, others pointed out the difficulty of driving in the city for those who are not local to the area.
“I feel sorry for all drivers coming to Sydney confused by all our over complicated roads,” one person wrote.
According to Transport NSW, drivers must not drive in the tram’s way, turn in front of a tram or “stop or park within the tram lane (even when you can’t see a tram)”.
Drivers must also follow traffic signals and signs and never queue across intersections.
