THE NT could open to Melbourne before Christmas if the COVID-19 numbers remain on track, says Chief Minister Michael Gunner.
In an interview on ABC radio this morning, Mr Gunner said it would be a “reasonable assumption based around the numbers we have” that Melbournites will soon be able to travel into the Territory.
He cautiously flagged four weeks after the November 8 date when Melbourne will see a number of changes including the 25km radius travel rule scrapped, as a potential time for Melbournites to be allowed in.
“So far everything is on track,” Mr Gunner said.
“If we can land that before Christmas I think that will be huge for the country.”
