The most love-hate fashion item of the past is making a comeback
As skinny jeans have come back in style, jeggings are coming along with them - but they look a little different to what they used to.

Let’s be real, jeans kind of suck.
No one likes buying them, putting them on is a task in itself, and you can’t convince me there’s a pair that would be comfortable to sit in all day.
So, what’s the solution? You could wear cargo pants or trousers. Maybe a pair of trackies, or ditch pants altogether and go for dresses and skirts.
But, if you want to keep the look, are jeggings the solution?

Jeggings are in
If you aren’t familiar with jeggings, where have you been for the last 20 years?
The combination of leggings and jeans quickly became one of the most popular items of clothing in the early 2010s, with the term being entered into the twelfth edition of Concise Oxford English Dictionary in 2011.
I vividly remember wearing them myself as a tween - though the pairing of a casual look and activewear comfort made them a must-have for all ages.
However, as skinny jeans in general went out of style, in favour of baggier wide leg and boot cut options, jeggings went along with them - until now.

They’re baaaack!
Earlier this year, skinny jeans were deemed to be officially ‘back in’, with influencers taking to TikTok and Instagram to share their looks and outfit inspiration. As a member of Gen Z myself, I’m still not on board, but I digress.
Of course, the natural progression would be to bring the more comfortable, and even skinnier version back - jeggings.
Whilst they’ve always been sold in stores like Target and Kmart, where you can get just about anything, a sign of the times has been more ‘trendy’ retailers like Uniqlo, H&M, Jay Jays and boohoo selling them as well.
Trackies and jeans… treans?
Though jeggings are supposed to be a comfier version of skinny jeans, you have to admit that skinny jeans aren’t for everyone.
Now, that’s not a problem, with brands coming out with tracksuit pants versions to mimic wide leg jeans.
Last year, US brand Rag & Bone went viral for their Miramar line - a ‘revolutionary’ technique that makes any material look like denim.
If you’re hoping to invest for the winter months, you can grab a pair made of cotton terry cloth for $329 (or more, depending on the cut), or a satin pair for $459. You can also get pieces in mesh, knitted and jersey materials if you wanted to - for some reason.
Or, if you’ve got a pair already hiding in your closet, this is your sign to get them out again.
