TERRITORY Senator Malarndirri McCarthy has announced her engagement to Darwin teacher Richard Bryant.
The couple, who have known each other for a long time, broke the news of their engagement on New Year’s Eve.

“Thank you to my families for your warm welcome of my fiance Richard into all of our lives, especially to my sons CJ and Gray and their dad Normie,” Senator McCarthy said.
“To Richard, thank you for making the decision to walk with me in the years ahead. You are such a blessing to my heart and my life.”
The Top End wedding will need to fit somewhere in between Parliamentary Sittings for Malarndirri and Richards’ school terms as a teacher in Darwin.
Both share a love of being with family and out fishing on the Darwin Harbour and anywhere there is a river.
