A 20-year-old Australian woman has gone viral after she revealed exactly how she landed her job in tech sales without a degree.

Claudia Roussel was on the final day of her 10-day long New York City trip when she was stopped for a street interview by Suleyman Dolaev, who asks Americans how much they spend.

After revealing she had spent $10,000 on her dream trip, Ms Roussel revealed she worked in tech sales.

“I reached out to different companies that I was interested in working for straight out of high school. I study on weekends — there’s a little hustle involved,” she said.

“But I eventually landed a really low-level job and worked my way up to sales.”

She revealed in her current role, she works nine to 10 hours a day, which she acknowledged was a longer than average work day, and makes $120,000 a year.

Ms Roussel revealed her advice to getting a job such as hers was: “You miss a 100 per cent of the shots you don’t take.”

“Take every shot you can, even if you’re going to embarrass yourself, even if it’s not going to work out,” she said.

“I spend most of my days cold-calling and I can’t let myself be restricted by my nerves, my fears of being turned down. You have to be ruthless, you have to be honest and don’t let being a girl set you back because often times people won’t take you as seriously.”

Social media users were incredibly impressed with Ms Roussel’s hustle.

“20-year-old with no college degree making six figures in tech sales is kinda crazy,” one person commented on the clip.

Another said: “As an Aussie, we claim her! Well done Claudia. Great attitude.”

“That’s seriously impressive. I have never heard of a 19/20 year old Aussie earning $120K AUD with no uni degree? That’s like a senior/management position salary,” one added.

One added: “$90k a year at 20 … and before the degree? I’m so happy for her.”

“In Italy $90k a year is INSANE. None of the people I know earn this amount of money and probably ever will,” one said.

However, others were less than kind to the young woman, with some claiming the 20-year-old didn’t earn her position.

“Some people were saying, ‘Yeah, rich daddies and private schools will get you there,’ and others were like, ‘Step one: Be hot.’ It was an interesting experience,” she told 7News.

“It’s insane … I was really just trying to tell my story, and then all of a sudden people are like, ‘She slept her way to the top’.”

Either way, the clip went viral and she’s received countless questions asking her for career advice, saying she would have never thought of herself as a “role model”.

She took to her own TikTok account to share some insights that she wished someone had given her when she was trying to break into the industry.
