Controversy aside, the airconditioned complex, which has come in on time and on budget, has delivered sporting venue facilities for the public unlike any other in the Territory.

The DTC says the complex provides new convention and conference space.

The ground floor and first floor public spaces offer airconditioned comfort, bars, dining and sweeping views of the track.

The top floor can be opened into one large floor space with bar or divided into a maximum of six airconditioned corporate rooms that open onto a large veranda.

The DTC expects this to be popular for functions and weddings.

DTC chief executive officer Brad Morgan said he was confident the public will be happy with the facilities.

“The public will see this is very much for them and hopefully see what something like this can do for the Darwin community,” Mr Morgan said.

“When they see the ground floor and experience it I think they will understand why Darwin Turf Club has been so excited about the project.

“And level one and level two are also available to the public.”

Mr Morgan said the interstate interest is “immense”.

“I’ve spent time working in other east coast jurisdictions and these facilities here rival those as an overall racing precinct,” he said.
