WITH the Darwin Cup Carnival providing a rare opportunity for Territorians to glamour up, many punters put their own spin on Darwin Cup attire.

It wasn’t all traditional suits and frocks, as punting stalwart Ray Bain yet again wore his Santa outfit as he enjoyed the new grandstand.

“I look like him so I might as well dress like him. I’ll come here and V8s next week as Santa,” he said.

“Melbourne Cup’s pretty good but we can let our hair down here and have a go, it’s a big event at this time of the year.”

The face mask made its social debut as well, with Bernadette Smith ensuring she followed safety precautions while also enjoying the day out.

“Victoria and NSW are so bad that zero risk is the aim for us,” she said.

“The masks add to the outfit, I would like a Zorro mask as well though to add some flavour.

“I think everyone should be wearing the mask until the second wave finishes. It’s here, you don’t want to be the unlucky one.”

Territorian Bruce Riley gave his outfit an environmental theme making his costume and his friend Joy Rekas’ fascinator out of native plants.
