Hero grandma saves baby from party near-disaster in viral clip

"The baby's loving it, oblivious to the danger. Good job the woman in red has her sh*t together!"

I'll never forget having sparklers on my son's fifth birthday cake for his party, and watching one of the dads freak out.

Admittedly, he was a fireman. And we were indoors. But to be totally honest, I hadn't thought five average sparklers in a large community hall was a big risk/could go too wrong.

(Plot twist: It is. And can.)

I'd like to think, however, that I'd never go as far as these parents, who seemed to have an actual fireworks display within an area very proximate to guests - and right next to the birthday baby.

Of course, it wouldn't be on the internet if it hadn't become a mild disaster.

Grandma swoops in to save baby

Footage of the moment the celebration with fireworks went oh so wrong was posted online by an unknown source, and it's definitely anxiety-inducing.

We see a couple standing behind a baby girl, who's on some sort of celebratory platform. A 'small' fireworks display sparks on either side of the platform, as the baby gleefully watches.

There is a malfunction and the sparkles on one side turn into a small explosion - with some of the debris seemingly hitting the mum in the face. The dad instinctively covers the mum, as she's injured in the face. All this time, the baby is happily watching the sparkly mayhem.

And yes, the child is now well and truly at risk.

In the next second, we see an elderly woman in a red sari sweep in from behind, and casually rescue the child.

The poster of the clip captioned it, Protect yourselves but not the baby who’s literally in the middle of it all?

But our focus is more on the Red Sari Heroine, without whom the event could have had a significantly worse outcome.

"The woman in red has her shit together"

Viewers were amazed by what they had seen.

"Good job the woman in red has got her shit together," the most-like comment read, with this person agreeing, "Grandma's got her shit together at least."

Then there was this assessment - "That old lady is smarter than the 'parents'."

One person also applauded the grandma for her boss move: "The baby's like 'yay, BURN, BURN!' oblivious to the fact that it almost got torched. That smile is kinda haunting at the end lol.

"Seriously though I'm glad that woman grabbed the baby out of that situation. I'd be going off on the parents for leaving the baby there like that."

"Baby's dress is likely flammable"

Others were damning of the entire incident.

"You just know that the baby's dress is as flammable as gun powder too," one suggested.

A second wrote, "My first thought is always: Why the f*ck would you put your kid in between fireworks that are handled by amateurs? It was clearly not rehearsed beforehand."

Another slammed the dad, saying, "I hate that the dad stops to comfort his wife and is clearly mad she's hurt but just ignores that the actual baby is still getting rained on by sparks till someone else intervenes."

The judgement continued with this exchange:

"They CANNOT be parenting, that is NOT a real mother who puts herself into safety before her child," to which another replied, "Unfortunately, this is reality for a lot of kids. Not all parents put their kids before themselves."
