I've been given a 'white grandma’ name... my life is over

"I got posted in the news and I'm so embarrassed. Who gives an Asian kid this name?"

These are the wildest baby names I've seen in the hospital

A young lady has gone viral for lamenting her name as a “white soccer mom” or a “white grandma”, complaining that she “feels like my life is over bro.”

“Who names an Asian kid Sharon?? It's literally not fitting at all,” the frustrated teen wrote in a post last week.

“People like to compare my name to Kare, and online I see a lot of people say stuff like Sharons and Karens are SOOO annoying,” she added.

“My parents could’ve at least made the name look nice by replacing o with i (Sharin) or even Sherrin would be better. I'm literally a teenage girl with a granny name, how am I gonna live the rest of my life being named Sharon?”

"Ask your friends to call you Shar"

Sharon was a popular name decades ago, but hasn't appeared on any trending baby name trending lists in Australia for years.

Another commenter said, “Idk how old you are, but you could ask your friends to call you Shaari or Shar if it bothers you that much.

"When you meet someone new, use the new nickname. People will always be all over the place depending on what they’ve always called you but that can’t be helped. When you start college, use the nickname or your middle name or whatever you choose from day one.”

"It's not so bad"

Others didn't think Sharon was so bad.

“I thought your name was going to be Mildred or Ethel or something,” one shared. “Literally no one is cringing or noticing anything in particular when they hear your name.”

“I have never thought of Sharon as an old people name. I was expecting Clara or Myrtle or something,” another wrote.

And this person added tactfully: “I thought it was going to be Bertha or Mildred or Agatha. Sharon is a beautiful and perfectly normal name. I don’t think it’s a grandma name at all. I don’t get it, but you can either change it when you’re an adult or simply choose to go by something else.”

The poster later added: "Edit: Y'all please stop, there's no way I got posted on New York Post I'm so embarrassed. I was being a bit dramatic in my post and I was exaggerating. I don't actually think that my life is over but I was expressing how upset I was in the moment."
