Mum's washing machine find solves biggest laundry mystery

"That's where they all go!"

The Kmart camping thair that everyone is talking about

There are plenty of household items that seem to magically disappear just when you need them most.

Tupperware containers, forks, the list goes on.

But, one of the biggest ones is always socks. I’m not convinced that matching pairs exist after the first wash!

Well, it seems one mum has found the solution, and if you’re missing a sock or 10, this might be where you should check first.

“Look at all those socks!”

Mum Rachel took to TikTok to share her shocking find.

“Oh my god, look at all those socks!” she said in the video.

“That’s where they all go. That’s why I always lose [his] black socks. There must be 100 socks in there!”

In the video, you can see her husband opening the front cover of her top loader washing machine, finding hundreds of socks lodged at the bottom of the washing machine unit, outside the drum.

“We need to apologise!”

Commenters thought the video was hilarious, after blaming the dryer for stealing their socks previously.

“The washing machine really does eat the socks 😂” one commenter said.

“🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣and we've been blaming the dryer for years 🤣🤣🤣🤣” another said.

“Omg it was the washer not the dryer. We need to apologize. 🤣” a third agreed.

Some offered their own pieces of advice to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

“Always wash your socks in a laundry bag! they will never go missing again,” one commenter said.

“This is why I always use a mesh bag when I wash socks... especially baby socks! 🤣” another suggested.

“I always safety pin small socks together. Either none go or they both go. Usually none.” a third said.

“Pro tip always put your socks in first at the bottom,” said another.

But, the number one tip - don’t overfill the machine.

“To this day I do not understand how ppl don’t know that your clothing can spin out the top of the washer drum. Reason #5 why you also shouldn’t overfill one either.” one commenter said.

“Yes!!!! That’s what I thought happens! If you do big loads the socks are more likely to be spun over the top.” another echoed.
