Park Visitor Services general manager Jasmine Jan said the new $150,000 playground would help engage young families and schoolchildren and would break up the day for the park’s visitors.
“The centrepiece of the playground is the Megalania, which is the giant goanna and it’s a climbable structure, so we’ll see kids climbing it and sliding off it,” she said.
“We want it to focus on Australia’s megafauna … also there’s a couple of recycled dinghy’s in there so children can imagine and role play their next maritime adventure looking for (fossils).”

Ms Jan said investing in the park’s infrastructure would help keep tourists and locals coming through the gates.
“It’s critical to show people we are still open and operating and still here for visitors,” she said.
