LOCALISED flooding has affected several roads in the Top End following heavy rainfall overnight, with further rain forecast for today.

Impacted areas include the Stuart Highway at Pinelands, south of McMillans Road, where several vehicles became stranded due to water over the road.

The intersection of Charles Eaton Drive and McMillans road in Rapid Creek also had water over the road overnight.

A minor flood level of 2.829 metres was recorded at 4.50am Friday morning. It’s possible this could increase throughout the day as weather conditions change.

The Department of Infrastructure Planning and Logistics, NT emergency services and police continue to respond to these reports as they came in.

Territory Duty Superintendent Tony Deutrom said these incidents are a good reminder for motorists to drive to conditions: slow down, turn on your headlights, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
