'Insane!': Mum's shares her easy go-to budget meal that feeds the whole family

But one foodie mum has managed to strike the perfect balance between tasty and cheap with her unique 'cheeseburger macaroni' recipe. 

She says it's guaranteed to be a family favourite in no time.

It's beefy, cheesy and saucy and it tastes exactly like a cheeseburger in pasta form, so your little ones are going to love it.

Minimal cooking skills required and ready in under an hour

Kristan from Melbourne recently took to a Facebook group to share the recipe her family requests 'at least' once a week. 

The best part? It requires minimal cooking skills and is ready in under an hour. Win!

The simple meal, which is prepared in a casserole dish, is made using beef mince, instant gravy, French onion soup mix, black pepper, two packets of macaroni and tasty cheese. 

The mum wrote alongside a mouthwatering photo of a cross-section of the dish: "This is a great cheap mince dinner that will be much loved."

How to make the cheeseburger macaroni dish

So, how do you make it?

First, start by browning the mince in a frypan and then add several spoons of gravy mix. Next, add some pepper and the whole French onion soup packet and a cup of water. 

Then spread a thin layer of cooked macaroni in the bottom of the casserole dish. 

Spoon the mince mixture onto the macaroni and add some tomato sauce to the top layer. 

Then add a generous layer of cheese and bake at 180C until the cheese is melted.

Mums in the comments praised Kristan for sharing her recipe, with one saying, "Thanks so much, looks so yummy. I definitely need to do this for my kids."
