Indian culture goes on show in Darwin as India@Mindil returns

India@Mindil is back for its 25th year of mouth-watering curries and traditional Bollywood dances.

India@Mindil is back for its 25th year of mouth-watering curries and traditional Bollywood dances.

Indian Cultural Society NT president Savita Valadian said this year’s Darwin Indian cultural festival will be more vibrant than ever for the silver Jubilee celebrations.

“We want to make it bigger and better, the committee is working tirelessly to make it a very successful India@Mindil 2021,” Ms Valadian said.

“The event will showcase the best of our local performers from Indian backgrounds and the wider community.”

Family-friendly event India@Mindil attracts more than 13,000 visitors each year.

Plenty of activities will be available for children of all ages including; a jumping castle, face painting, giant balloons, a stilt walker, rides and roving entertainment.

Indian stalls selling traditional food and craft items will also be available, as well as an ‘Indian Pavilion’ that will be exhibiting a rich display of India’s cultural history and diversity.

“India@Mindil will take you on a cultural journey of six hours, you will experience a memorable Indian aura from start to finish,” Ms Valadian said.

“Come along with your family and friends and enjoy.”

The annual festival begins at 4pm today at Mindil Beach.
