I found four secret Costco price codes that will save you money

According to the TikToker, they indicate whether a product is limited edition, when something might be discounted again, and if it will be restocked. 

Costco is every bargain-hunters dream - but what if we told you there were ways to save even more money at the bulk-buy supermarket?

Financial influencer Tiktoker @ecommjess took to her account this week to share four secret codes she found on Costco price tags and what they mean for your wallet.

According to her, they indicate whether a product might be discontinued, when it could be discounted again, and if it will be restocked.

The four little-known Costco codes

The first tip Jess mentions was that "Standard pricing ends in .99 which is just the regular price that has NOT been marked down."

So how do you know if something has been marked down? Well, Jess claims that "sale items will end in .97, so if you see this you can consider it clearance."

Pro tip: To find out the date something was last marked down, check the tiny print on the bottom right-hand corner of the price tag. And, "If it's been a while, they might mark it down again soon."

Her third piece of intel is that "Weird pricing ending in .39, .49, 79. etc. typically means special deals from the manufacturer on brand-name products."

Last but not least, Jess says that "If you see an asterisk that means something won't be restocked, so if it's something you like - grab it now before it goes away."

"I can confirm these are all true," ex-employee says

Her clip has since gone viral with over 12 million views, 1.5 million likes and nearly 225k comments. 

Thankful fans from far and wide praised Jess, with one person even admitting, "I don't even have a Costco in my country but thanks soo much."

"This is SO handy, thank you," someone else said. Another commented: "This is so interesting and informative!"

"Worked there for 10 years and I can confirm these are all true!" an ex-employee added.

"I wish I had known about the '*' before some of my favourite products were discontinued," remarked a different woman. 

Commenters shared their own hacks

Many also shared their own hacks as well, with one person saying, "If it ends in 00 it's a manager markdown which is typically the lowest you'll see it go."

"Anything ending in .97 is a warehouse markdown which also means it's only at that location only," a second added.

"The asterisk doesn't mean it will never be back again! It just means at that point they aren't expecting any more shipments," an employee clarified.
