Eagle-eyed Kmart consumers have been quick to note the wavy furniture item, which has a velvet-like finish, looks remarkably similar to the “Asymmetrical Wavy Velvet Full Length Mirror” made by Gigi&Tom, which retails for $599.95.

Shoppers have since been rushing to buy the item, which is already proving so popular, some are reporting it has “sold out” in their area.

“Kmart, this mirror is everything,” one declared on TikTok.

“I got the Kmart Velvet Mirror and I am obsessed,” another shared.

Nicholas Holmes, Home Buyer at Kmart, said the new Velvet Floor Mirror “was inspired by fluid and wavy shapes, a trending form this season”.

“By incorporating a velvet finish on the mirror the design plays with the resurgence and popularity of this fabrication in home decor, while making this look and feel accessible to our customers,” he told news.com.au.

“We recognise the importance of versatility in furniture items. The neutral colourway of this mirror allows it to tie in beautifully with customers existing styling seamlessly, whether it be in the bedroom or living space.

“This mirror has usability in mind, best styled leaning up against a wall. The mirror works as both a statement on its own or paired with a side table and the customers choice of decor.”

It’s not the only new item in Kmart that shoppers are raving about, with the retailer recently causing a stir over its $15 Anko Microwave Toastie Maker, prompting the Australian brand to declare it the item of the season.

“It goes in the microwave for three minutes, I think half way through you have to flip it over to ensure its crispness,” Kmart’s Divisional Merchandise Manager Meryn Serong told news.com.au recently.

“We often talk about the power of one item and how much joy that can bring to our customers, this item is definitely the one of the season,” Ms Serong said.

Shoppers went nuts when the gadget, which makes “crispy” toasties in just minutes”, appeared on shelves – with some describing it as a “game-changer”.

“My kids will love this, and it’s MUCH quicker to clean than a sandwich press and much easier to make than in a pan,” one declared online.

“So good for a quick snack,” another mused.

While a third said: “This is perfect because our kitchen has no room for a sandwich press.”
