'Highway robbery': The maths isn't adding up in this Woolies 'discount'

We're always happy when we see those yellow discount labels on a pantry staple, except when we're not...

5 healthy smoothies that actually taste good

A mum recently noticed an irritating gaff while wandering the breakfast aisle in her local Woolies.

She was on the lookout for the yellow discount label to cut down her grocery bill but was left shocked after spotting one with an incorrect label.

"It isn't half price"

Taking to the Mums on a Budget Australia Facebook group, she posted a photo of a bulk pack of six Up & Go's on the shelves, originally priced at $10.50.

The discount label over the top read: "1/2 Price: $6, save $6," which clearly isn't half of $10.50.

The mum captioned her post: "Pointed out to my local Woolworths yesterday how dodgy this is!

"It isn’t half-price!"

"Someone needs to go back to school"

Many were equally as annoyed in the comments, with one claiming, "You need to report this to the ACCC."

"Perfect example of what I reported to the ACCC in the inquiry survey," someone else echoed.

Another user pointed out: "Under the consumer law, you have to get it at half price, which is $5.25."

"Someone needs to go back to school," a different member pointed out.

"Yep, always good to lift the flap to double-check," someone else replied.

Errors aside, people also aired their grievances about the liquid breakfast being so pricey in the first place.

"Daylight robbery," one stated. "Why are up and go’s sooooo expensive?! Gosh, I love them but refuse to pay $10.50," another budget-conscious mum responded.

"I’m shocked they want $10.50 for a six pack on a normal day, WTF?!" another expressed.

According to Woolworths online, the product is still on sale for $6, but the original price is actually meant to be $12, meaning the discount label wasn't incorrect, but the original one was.
