What a weekend of wild and wooly weather!

Widespread monsoonal rain from Arnhem Land through to north western NT has filled all our flood plains and rivers, and all but guaranteed a good run off.

Fishing over the weekend was slow with rising water levels, but that should change once conditions clear and the major rivers stabilize.

Shane Compain and the boys headed to the Daly over the weekend but found the fishing to be pretty tough although they got one solid fish for their efforts.

He reports the river looks great and was completely flooded so it should fish well this year.

Reports from the culverts were mixed with a lot of water moving around, but by the time you read this some of them could be well and truly firing.

Strategies for a fish this weekend are pretty limited. With the solid westerly swell its safest to stick to rivers and estuaries.

There should be some good early run off if the rain eases later in the week, but the neap tides may not back the tannin water up enough to get the fish going.

If you don't absolutely have to go, it could be a great weekend to service the trailer, boat and sort your tackle out for what's going to be an awesome run off!
