I HAVE started fishing with a new, longer rod – the Shimano Borderless 420M-T.

It’s a freestyle and high-spec rod, with titanium frame Sic guides, CI4 reel seat, separate grip, spiral X construction.

Originally I wanted a different, slightly shorter model, the 380M-T.

But I failed to obtain Shimano Borderless 380M-T on a visit to Japan.

My new 420M-T is longer than 380M-T – 420cm long!

Despite the length, it only weighs 132g.

The castability is great for land-based fishing because I can put in longer casts to fish holding areas.

I’m not sure exactly how far I can cast with it.

Of course, I got more distance than usual.

Once fish were hooked, they can’t escape from the hook because the 420cm-long rod has an excellent flexibility.

So far I have caught blue salmon and rock cod, casting a Surecatch Snapbean and also a squishy Mongrel.
