Calipso Pools techie finds freshwater croc in skimmer box of suburban backyard pool

Pool noodles, floaties and a WHAT? Check out the snappy surprise one Darwin pool techie got this week.

Ranger swoops freshie from pool

MANY a weird object has been found in Territory pools but none as snappy as this.

Calipso Pools and Spas service technician Josh was cleaning a pool in Rosebery on Wednesday when he found a reptilian surprise in the skimmer box.

“I went to put my hand in there and felt something pretty rough,” he said.

“I opened the lid and there was a little croc. I couldn’t get him out of the skimmer box so I moved him out and he started swimming in the pool.

“I think he was more scared of me than I was of him. He just wanted out.”

A ranger was called to remove the little freshie.

Josh said it was the first croc he’d encountered in a pool in his eight years in the industry.

“We’ve joked about it,” he said.

“It’s definitely one of the coolest things I’ve found. Lucky it was just a freshie.

“I’ll definitely think twice before sticking my hand in a skimmer.”

While the find was rare, Josh said the croc caused a bit of chaos.

“Fluffed up all the stuff I was meant to clean up and caused a blockage but it’s all good now,” he said.
