Emerging as Sydney’s newest “it girl”, Emma Pillemer, a.k.a. Emma Pills, is a 23-year-old from the Eastern Suburbs who has captivated the local scene while rubbing shoulders with some of Hollywood’s biggest names.

She runs her namesake jewellery brand, Emma Pills, out of LA and splits her time between the two cities, which is evident when you hear her hybrid Australian-American accent.

“The American comes through after I’ve been hanging out with my US friends,” she tells news.com.au.

The natural social butterfly, who appeared on Made in Bondi, says she’s always out socialising and seeking new experiences, which is how she has ended up in the same circles as her famous friends.

While expanding her brand globally, she met David Dobrik, the 28-year-old YouTuber with over 50 million followers.

Dixie D’Amelio, the TikTok star with over 70 million followers, was another figure that she had an instant connection with.

“I went to LA not thinking I would make any friends, and I found the most amazing people who I consider some of my best friends in the world,” she says.

“I got very lucky to meet them. They’re such gorgeous humans.

“I was going out a lot, and it just happened that I met them around, and I really clicked with both of them. They’re such beautiful people, and I’ve made best friends for life.”

Their friendship is so strong that Dobrik even made a spontaneous trip to Australia in January to surprise her.

“It was really funny, I had no idea,” she said about his visit. “We had the best time ever. I had been convincing him to come for a while. It was great.”

While the pair have never been romantically linked publicly, there has been speculation – as there often is whenever two famous faces are seen together.

Photos of the pair going on a classic Aussie servo run went viral at the time, but Pillemer insists their relationship is purely platonic.

“He is one of my best friends,” she says. “I’m 23, you know what I mean? I’m just living my best life. We have fun, he’s a great guy”.

During their trip to the petrol station to pick up snacks, Pillemer swapped her usual dressed-up, self-described “hot and chic” personal style for a more laid-back look, pairing low-waisted floral pyjama pants with a plain grey singlet.

“Those photos are the definition of ‘I don’t dress for the cameras – I dress how I want to dress,’ and that’s about it,” she laughs.

“If I’m tired, I’m in my pyjamas. It was a tragic outfit, but it was a hungover movie day. They caught me at my finest!”

D’Amelio also took a last-minute trip to Sydney last week and reportedly “loved it,” according to Pillemer.

“It’s nice seeing Sydney through their eyes,” she notes.

“They notice all the small things, and it makes you appreciate your home even more.”

While hitting all the Bondi hotspots, from brunch at Pocket to sunning on the grassy knoll, D’Amelio was decked out in Emma Pills’ signature chunky jewellery.

In a photo shared with her 20 million Instagram followers, she wore the statement Butterfly Effect Necklace and Floating Studs from the new festival-inspired collection, ‘Wonderland’, that launched this week.

The publicity is undoubtedly helping catapult Pillemer’s brand into international recognition, making many wonder if she’ll ditch our sunny shores for those abroad.

But it seems like she’s planning on holding onto her roots, at least for now.

“Look, the time difference sucks … working between the two cities, and I’ve always loved LA and can see myself there,” she says.

“But I’m an Aussie girl, and summer here has my heart – I like walking around in a bikini and little shorts.”
