'Absolute pigs': Photos of trashed Kmart causes outrage amongst Aussies

"Some people are absolute animals," one person claimed after seeing the horrifying scenes. But others said it's unsurprising and all too common...

Shoppers 'devastated' as Target clears stock for Kmart products

Retail therapy means different things to different people.

For me, I love nothing more than cruising through my local Kmart, wandering the neatly stacked shelves and deciding I need a kitchen organisation refresh... every time I go.

It's heaven.

However, a recent post by a shopper in a local Facebook group paints a vastly different picture — one of chaos and disregard, far from the tidy rows I'm used to.

The post, which shows pictures of a trashed Kmart store, has since sparked a mix of outrage, but also acknowledgment from others who claim these scenes are all too familiar.

"I feel so sorry for the poor staff members"

The woman, Julie, took to the Kmart Hacks and Decor page after she was left shocked on a recent shopping trip during an interstate holiday.

"I got a huge shock when shopping at Kmart while on an interstate holiday. My local Kmarts are always relatively neat and tidy," she wrote.

The scene?

Well, at least 50 pairs of shoes are scattered on the floor in a big pile, clothes have been haphazardly tossed in the wrong department, rugs are taken off shelves and not put back properly, and bikinis are strewn up and down the aisles.

Julie added in the caption: "I feel so sorry for the poor staff members who have to clean up after these messy shoppers."

"I bet these people have never worked in retail"

The post quickly gathered hundreds of reactions, echoing Julie's disbelief and frustration.

"And no doubt the people that do it have never worked in retail," one commenter noted, while another exclaimed, "Omg feral customers!!! Disgusting."

Meanwhile, someone else added, "Sadly some people just don't have any respect… Can you imagine what their homes look like?"

"Customers are so entitled and have no respect. Absolute pigs," claimed another woman.

Then others shared their own experiences, like this woman who made a disturbing discovery... "I went to our local Kmart to get a kitty tray and... someone had peed on the plastic of the kitty tray. My daughter was holding it when we realised and it was disgusting."

And a former employee chimed in, sharing, "I've had my fair share of this too, unfortunately in this modern day, people just don't care. That's why retail is one of the hardest jobs, customers treat you horribly."

The anecdotes continued, with one shopper recalling an incident over Christmas where a woman "grabbed everything she could, even out of my hands, then walked around the corner, took a look at what she took and then dumped the discards in the sporting goods sections."

As customers, it's worth remembering that fellow shoppers and retail staff deserve better!

Please pick up after yourselves, ya filthy animals.
