Campers obsessed with $199 Kmart buy that's a dupe of a $900 version

It's perfect for anything from kids' sleepovers to camping trips, or even a festival-themed party in your backyard. However, some customers had a few words of warning.

Campers rave over new $199 Kmart buy

An Aussie on social media has discovered a hidden gem at Kmart — a luxurious glamping tent that's a dupe of a similar $900 version from Anaconda.

The Eight Person Bell Tent, Beige, is a spacious, Instagram-worthy bell tent, perfect for anything from kids' sleepovers to camping trips, or even a festival-themed party in your backyard.

It features three large side windows, a large opening and a water-resistant flysheet.

It also has a power-cord inlet so you can hook up some fairy lights or, you know, charge your phone if going off the grid isn't your thing.

The $199 glamping tent dupe

Shopper and outdoor enthusiast Maddy Bockett took it for a spin and shared her thoughts to TikTok in a video that's now amassed over a million views.

"Camping girlies, you won’t believe what I found in Kmart. It’s an eight-person glamping tent. Are you kidding me?" she gushed in the clip, taking her followers along with her to Kmart as she purchased the tent.

"Immediately I had to buy it and take it home, set it up in my backyard and test it out. I’m really curious to see how the quality is – is it going to survive in the wind? Let’s see."

While she said it was "pretty easy" to set up - just pin the sides down and put in the middle pole and entryway pole - she admitted that having a second person to help assemble it would be helpful.

After setting it up and placing a Persian rug and coffee table inside, Maddy declared, "Isn't it stunning? I'm actually obsessed. It came out so cute."

However, she added, "But it would only fit eight people if we all lay next to each other like sausages."

"I don't even camp but I need it anyway"

Her followers immediately weighed in with their thoughts, with many equally impressed.

"OMG. I love it. I can just imagine how cute the setup would be out in the bush," one person wrote.

"I don't even camp but I need it anyway!" quipped someone else.

And this mum joked, "This is perfect, I need this in my backyard when I want to cancel my fam out. 😂"

And another happy customer shared, "I bought two so my son's year six class could sleepover at the end of the year. Had two huge storms and it was surprisingly dry! Just make sure you peg it out right."

"Definitely taking this on our next camping trip," claimed a different commenter.

"They aren't very waterproof"

On the flip side, some people thought the tent was more "water resistant" than waterproof.

"I bought one for a festival and it rained for two nights and one of the days and we had pools of water come through," one woman wrote.

"I own this tent. It is not waterproof. Still love it though after taking it to every festival. But beware of the water," a second user agreed.

Another helpful person said, "They aren't very waterproof but you can buy waterproofing spray to make up for it."
