A Married At First Sight husband has gone dark on social media in what appears to be a bid to escape furious backlash from viewers.
Tim became the target of viewers’ scorn after treatment of his bride, Katie, sparked anger.
According to TV insiders, Tim is desperate to put the show behind him as a result, despite the show still having several weeks worth of episodes left to air.
An insider told Daily Mail that Tim is “refusing to do interviews” about his time on MAFS and wants “nothing to do with the show”.
“He feels he was stitched up from the start and is now just trying to get through it with minimal damage to his career and reputation.”
Viewers have lashed out at the groom and his treatment of Katie, who spent the majority of their first episode in tears due to his behaviour and claim that there was “no spark”.
“We must be in for a treat with his behaviour if he’s deleted all socials after one episode,” remarked one viewer on Reddit.
“Yes, they said it only gets worse especially after the first dinner party,” replied another.
Another ranted: “The way he has completely dehumanised Katie and dismissed her entirely for the way she looks was awful!”
However, others have come out in defence of Tim, remarking that it’s tough to judge a person solely by how they come across on television.
“Regardless of his treatment of Katie on the show, it doesn’t mean he should be the target of trolling on here,” insisted one.
Tim came on the show and proclaimed himself to be a “nice guy” looking for the right woman to settle down with.
He shared that he had been “unlucky in love” and had his heart broken when he came close to proposing to an ex-girlfriend, only for her to suddenly end the relationship.
Following his heartbreak, the schoolteacher took a year to “work on himself and recover”, and described himself as just a “big, cuddly teddy bear”.
Meanwhile, Wednesday night’s episode of the show saw some of the attention come off Tim and onto Eliot, who decided to quit the experiment because his bride, Lauren, didn’t exercise enough.
