THE Kaye Hole and Randy Feltface are set to dazzle and entertain crowds at Darwin Festival after the continued Melbourne lockdown forced changes to the schedule for the second time in a month.
Festival artistic director Felix Preval said it was an “incredible opening weekend” with sold-out shows for every event.
“It was wonderful to see so much of the community out and about enjoying the festival.,” he said.
“We have some incredible fixes for the (performers) that are unable to attend and we are looking forward to seeing people make the very most of the remaining 12 hot August nights,” he said.
The Kaye Hole will replace Karen From Finance and features an eclectic line-up of the most risque acts of the festival let loose and dripping in sweat.
Hosted by cabaret icon Reuben Kaye – “the evil love child of Liza Minnelli and Jim Carrey” – and backed by his four-piece live band, guests include Lilikoi Kaos and Joel Bray with more set to be announced.
Replacing The Legend of Queen Kong and Zoë Coombs Marr, everyone’s favourite felt-faced comedian, Randy Feltface (puppet show for adults), will star in a live show that is a high-energy existential crisis, full of biting observations, razor-sharp crowd work and rapid arm movements.
In an addition to the program, Ivan Aristeguieta will host an extra evening of his smash hit show Piñata to replace Karen From Finance while an additional performance of Amelia Ryan and Libby O’Donovan’s rollicking, raucous celebration of songs and stories from 1960s, Unsung, will replace The Legend of Queen Kong.
