An iconic band have announced they are finally returning to Australia for the first time in 11 years.
Comedy rock duo Tenacious D have revealed that they are coming back Down Under for their highly acclaimed Spicy Meatball Tour in July this year.
The group formed in Los Angeles back in 1994 and is comprised of beloved actors Jack Black, 54, and Kyle Gass, 63.
Their biggest hits include Tribute (2001), Kickapoo (2006), Wonderboy (2001) and Master Exploder (2006), while the pair also released their new hit Video Game last year.
“It’s no joke. Tenacious D is the best band in the world and in the Spicy Meatball Tour they are at the peak of their powers,” an ‘Anonymous Rock Historian’ wrote in a statement from Frontier Touring.
“Better than the Beatles … better than the Stones … even better than Taylor Swift. And they have PYRO!!! Do not miss the spicy meatball … it’s D-licious!!!”
Beloved by fans across the globe, the Tenacious D journey includes a hit HBO variety series in 1999, a Platinum-certified self-titled album in 2001, and a feature film – Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny – in 2006.
Their album Rize of the Fenix earned a Grammy nomination for ‘Best Comedy Album’, with the band also taking home their first win in 2014 for ‘Best Metal Performance’.

In 2018, they released animated film Tenacious D in Post-Apocalypto – which saw each frame hand-drawn by Black, and characters voiced by the band, who also recorded the accompanying soundtrack.
A graphic novel completed the Post-Apocalypto universe in 2020.
Last year, Tenacious D launched The Spicy Meatball Tour, performing in 24 cities and selling out London’s O2 the week it was announced.
They released their latest hit song ‘Video Games’ – their first new track in five years – and paid tribute to Chris Isaak with a viral hit take on his classic ‘Wicked Game’.
In December 2023, Jack Black delivered another smash with his surprise hit ballad ‘Peaches’ from the Super Mario Bros. Movie.
