Taylor Swift fans face ‘giant hail’ as weather set to rock Sydney shows

The superstar is set to take to the stage on Friday for a four-night run of shows.

Taylor Swift fans seeing the superstar in Sydney this weekend have been given a stark weather warning ahead of the shows.

The singer is due to perform four sold-out concerts from Friday to Monday to 80,000 Swifties each night.

However, as the shows edge closer, the weather warnings have grown more intense. Now “heavy hail” is expected to rain down on Swift and her fans on Friday night.

Showers and storms are predicted across the east of the state with possible high-end severe storms for Sydney, Blue Mountains, Central Coast, and Illawarra where giant hail, locally destructive winds are possible as well as heavy rain, according to NSW Incident Alerts.

As a result, Swifties and Blink 182 fans heading to the concerts at Sydney Olympic Park tomorrow are being urged to plan ahead and prepare for severe weather including hot daytime temperatures with a maximum of 36 degrees forecast.

Police will be around the venue from Friday to Monday to ensure the safety and security of all attendees and staff.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Andrew Holland has now urged those unlucky fans who don’t have tickets to stay away from the stadium.

He also warned that those who do turn up to the venue will need to be on their best behaviour.

“Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated, and police will act in a fair but firm manner to ensure everyone has a good time but not at the expense of other people’s safety, so take care of one another,” said the commissioner.

Fans have taken to social media to share their concerns about the shows, especially about Friday, with lightning warnings putting the show at major risk.

“I’d say the only cancellation reason would be lightning. No one wants Tay Tay to die during an outdoor concert in Sydney!” wrote one fan.

“It’s at Accor, so it’s not fully under cover.

“She’s performed in the rain before so it would have to be very heavy rain and lightning for her to postpone. She’s only postponed two shows during this tour, I believe.”
