He may still be sporting his trademark hat and signature moves, but Fred Durst looked nothing like the 2000s rocker we all remember.
Twenty-four years on from his nu-metal group Limp Bizkit’s massive hit Rollin’, the musician took to the stage at the Download Festival at Leicestershire in the UK.
The band was in good company at the Donington Park event as the line-up included Queens of the Stone Age, Fall Out Boy, Pantera and Sum 41.
According to reports, Durst and his bandmates Wes Borland, Sam Rivers and DJ Lethal
not only performed their hits including My Generation, Break Stuff and Nookie, they also covered some of music’s greatest hits such as Oasis’ Wonderwall and George Michael’s Faith.
The three-time Grammy-nominated band also performed a covers medley featuring Nirvana’s Come As You Are, Metallica’s Master of Puppets and Guns N’ Roses’ Sweet Child O Mine.
And Durst – who wore a striped baseball shirt and white trousers to the gig – was also hailed a hero after he stopped his band’s performance midway through to help a fan struggling in the crowd.
In footage shared on social media, the 53-year-old rocker could be seen asking the audience to put their hands up so paramedics can know the sick person’s location.
“Sorry someone is having a seizure down here, so we’re gonna make sure they’re OK,” he told the crowd.
After medics helped the concertgoer, Durst then said: “Is everyone OK yet? If you’re OK, stick this finger up,” he added, gesturing to his middle finger.
Back in December when Limp Bizkit visited Australia for the Good Things Festival in Sydney, Durst also stopped their performance to check in on a fan.
In a short clip shared to TikTok by concertgoer Lauren, Durst could be seen pausing in the middle of their hit song My Way as he noticed a fan was crying.
“You OK? … Alright,” the singer asked her, gesturing to her kindly, before continuing with the show.
“POV: Fred Durst asking me if OK cuz (sic) I was crying (happy tears),” Lauren captioned the footage.
Limp Bizkit enjoyed massive success in the late 90s and early noughties and have sold 40 million records globally.
