EUROVISION winner Conchita Wurst will be a sought-after selfie target when she walks the red carpet at the Logies on May 3.
The Austrian drag queen artist is heading to Australia next Thursday to launch her post 2014 Eurovision Song Contest debut album Conchita.
“I am beyond excited, because I haven’t been to Australia before and I am sure I am going to love it. I am really looking forward to see my Australian fans,” said Conchita.
Featuring Rise Like A Phoenix, the Bond theme-in-waiting which won her the coveted competition almost a year ago, the new album showcases her powerhouse vocals on over-the-top ballads and dance tracks.
The bearded singer who wears a gown like a supermodel became globally famous in the weeks leading up to last year’s Eurovision finals.
She won hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide not only for her gifted vocals but also her unique persona which fit the unpredictability of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Wurst brings some of that cheeky charm to the debut record with songs including Where Have All The Good Men Gone and Put That Fire Out.
She appears to be back to her shocking best in the video for current single You Are Unstoppable with snippets posted online before its premiere today revealing a lot of skin.
Wurst’s visit comes as her home city Vienna gears up for Eurovision 2015, with Australia competing for the very first time.
With former Australian Idol winner and X Factor judge Guy Sebastian representing Australia with a made-to-order R & B pop track Tonight Again, SBS is crossing everything he can make a strong enough impression to keep us in the competition in future years.
Wurst will no doubt cross paths with Sebastian when she heads home after becoming fond of Jessica Mauboy when she was invited to perform as a special guest at last year’s event in Copenhagen.
