‘Disaster’: Katy Perry fails to shift tickets as numerous US tour dates remain empty

Katy may have sold out her Aussie tour, but she’s not having much luck in the US where she’s facing performing to empty crowds.

Katy Perry forced to cancel Mexico shows due to unfinished venue

Katy Perry is facing a crisis over the US leg of her world tour after tickets have failed to sell.

Perry, who recently sold out dates across Australia, has had less success in her homeland where numerous shows have barely sold.

In Houston, the first American stop on her US leg that begins May 7, more than half of the city’s Toyota Center amphitheatre have yet to sell.

In Minneapolis, it’s even worse: only one third of the 20,000 seats at the Twin Cities’ Target Center have been filled — despite tickets starting at just $USD75.

The situation is even worse at the Moody Centre in Austin on May 20, where the vast majority of tickets are still available.

Perry’s May dates in Minnesota, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Denver, Colorado also appear to show a large amount of tickets yet to be sold.

It comes after the singer announced on her Instagram Stories on Monday that she was unable to perform at Arena Guadalajara in Mexico next month because the venue was “not ready” to open to the public.

“Sadly, I learned that the construction of Arena Guadalajara will not be complete for their scheduled shows next week, which includes mine on May 1 and 2,” she began, before explaining the lengths she went to try and avoid the cancellation.

“I wish I could fix this but it is beyond my control. You guys mean the world to me and we have all been on such a beautiful journey together that I will be thinking about how I can create something special for the fans in Guadalajara in the future.”

Perry has had one of the toughest years in show business following her much-maligned comeback, and her Blue Origin space flight has taken things from bad to worse.

After numerous pictures and videos made the crew a laughing stock on social media, an insider has revealed that Perry has been left heartbroken and with numerous regrets.

“Katy doesn’t regret going to space. It was life-changing. What she does regret is making a public spectacle out of it,” the insider told Daily Mail.

Celebrities like Amy Schumer, Olivia Wilde, Emily Ratajkowski and Olivia Munn made their feelings on the space mission clear as they expressed their distaste.
