Mr Kelly, who co-wrote ‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’ about the Walk-off with fellow musician Kelly Kev Carmody, will make the trip to the Territory for the festival in August.
The festival is held in the town of Kalkarindji, 480km southwest of Katherine, from August 27 to 29.
Freedom Day, which is celebrated in the communities of Kalkaringi and Daguragu, marks the day on August 23 1966 when two hundred Gurindji, Mudburra and Warlpiri people took their belongings and walked from old Wave Hill station where they had been stuck working in horrific conditions for forty years.
The event is back after being cancelled last year because of COVID-19 restrictions.
More artists on the lineup are set to be announced in the coming weeks.
