ONE of the leading men behind Darwin’s charge to revive live music finally got his chance to rock audiences, with Jon Stevens headlining last nights One Tropical Day festival.
Performing his Noiseworks and INXS collections, Stevens finally made it to the Territory, having already performed in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, SA and WA, some six months after he was originally set to take the stage at Reset 2020.

But after coronavirus kept him grounded interstate, Stevens said it was worth the wait.
“(Performing) the hits of the bands I was in, people just love hearing all those songs again,” he said. “We’re very grateful to be back on stage and our audience are happy to hear live music.”
Rose Tattoo fan Annie Rose went along with her parents Ron and Jacky and said the NT’s live music revival was going from strength to strength with another strong line up.“It’s really good, it’s just really good to be back here, we’re really lucky,” she said. “A lot of the younger guys who normally wouldn’t get a chance to play are because of COVID which is great, some of them have been really good acts.”
One Tropical Day is Darwin’s seventh major music festival since the coronavirus pandemic, following Reset 2020, Jimmy Barnes’ Top End Breakout tour, Rebound 2020, Electric Storm, Rain Dance and SummerSalt.
