A DEATH metal band from the Red Centre claims it is set to be the first of its kind to tour internationally after it "thrashes" Alice Springs and Darwin.
Exdemission - featuring Pirate (vocals), Joel Schulz (lead guitar), Dave Schulz (bass), Wonky (lead guitar) and Sog (drums) - is on tour with one of the heavy metal act, King Parrot.
According to Pirate, audiences can expect an onslaught of energy, spontaneity and headbanging.
"It's all about the energy. Once (heavy metal) hooks you in, no other style of music can compare," he said.
"(King Parrot has) never been to Darwin and neither have we, so we're all really looking forward to it."
Exdemission will embark on the tour off the back of the release of their debut album, Desolation.
Pirate said that Desolation was "an in-your-face sonic beast of equal parts groove and brutality".
"It's layered with blistering solos and carnivorous vocals," he said.
"The production on it is world-class; we owe a lot to our producer, Andy Kite."
The lead singer said some songs on the album were inspired by "the insanity of the human condition and the problems we see in the world around us".
"The first single is a protest against the dangers of mass surveillance, the fear of becoming a police state," he said.
Pirate said that the heavy metal scene in Alice Springs was exploding.
"We've become a sought-after destination for touring bands - interstate and even a few internationals," he said. "We have a dedicated recording studio and record label in The Black Wreath, and now a massive festival with Blacken the Globe, going into its second year this Easter."
Pirate said the band will support King Parrot at the iconic Twice Bar in Kuta, Bali, on Sunday.
"(That's) where Australian heavy metal giants Psycroptic have left their mark," Pirate said.
"We then travel to Java for another six shows.
"From asking around, we believe it's the first time a heavy metal band from the NT has toured overseas."
Exdemission formed at Pine Cap, Central Australia, in 2011 and started performing live in 2012.
Pirate said that the musicians had "all been mates for years".
"We've been consistently writing, rehearsing and gigging for the last few years. We're in pristine form," he said.
"Exdemission is an unstoppable monster of a band."
