Harry and Meghan part ways with Netflix doco maker, key figures behind Spare

The Sussexes have ended contracts with a number of the executives behind their latest spate of projects, including their Netflix doco and Harry’s memoir.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have cut ties with execs who played a major role in their Archewell organisation’s biggest projects of 2022.

The Duke, 38, and Duchess, 41, of Sussex decided to part ways with Oscar-winning producer Ben Browning, who oversaw the couple’s record-breaking Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, Variety reported Friday.

According to the publication, the deal that Browning — who was the head of internal content at Archewell Productions — had is set to expire. A reason for why it was not renewed was not provided.

Meanwhile, Fara Taylor, the marketing campaign lead for Harry & Meghan, Markle’s podcast, Archetypes, and Harry’s memoir, Spare, is also set to “transition out of her role” later this year.

The announcement said neither Browning or Taylor will be replaced.

Ashley Hansen, Markle and Harry’s global press secretary, said of the exits in a statement, “Ben and Fara have been integral to the creation and execution of many critically and commercially acclaimed projects during their tenure.

“They have expertly delivered content and campaigns that have exceeded expectations and made their mark within the cultural Zeitgeist.”

The Archewell head of communications continued to rave about her soon-to-be former colleagues, “They played a critical role in helping to tell the stories of the Duke and Duchess thus far and the couple remain hugely grateful for their support on those vital ‘look back’ projects, as they now look forward.”

Hansen’s team is also set to see some changes as Miranda Barbot was named director of global communications and press secretary, and Maren Thomas was named manager of communications, per Variety.

Additional new hires include Serena Regan as head of podcasts and Shauna Nep as co-executive director of the philanthropic arm, the Archewell Foundation.

The Archewell organisation’s executive overhaul comes just as Harry and Markle have taken more control of their organisation.

The royals announced in December 2022 that they were going to take “full lead of their company” after Archewell president Mandana Dayani stepped down.

Dayani’s exit was said to be a “mutually planned” decision.

Page Six also exclusively reported at the time that Markle’s podcast producer Rebecca Sananès was moving on.

Sources previously told us that Sananès’ departure was part of a larger growth plan for the Sussexes’ brand.
