RUSSIAN duo t.A.T.u have made a name for themselves as a faux lesbian act. Now, one of its members has revealed herself to be a raging homophobe.

Gay Star News reports that Yulia Volkova told Russian television that she would condemn her son if he turned out to be gay because he would be less of a man.

“Yes, I would condemn him, because I believe that a real man must be a real man. God created man for procreation, it is the nature. The man for me is the support, the strength of ... I won’t accept a gay son,” she said.

Volkova said however that she wouldn’t have an issue if her daughter became a lesbian.

“Two girls together — not the same thing as the two men together. It seems to me that lesbians look aesthetically much nicer than two men holding their hands or kissing,” she said.

Volkova and Lena Katina started singing together in 1999 and developed a lesbian persona, despite both being married to men at one point.

They became the most successful Russia pop act ever, releasing songs like Not Gonna Get Us, which stormed up the charts across the world.

Volkova told Russian TV that she wanted to make clear she is “not against gays” and that she considers them to be above murderers and thieves — but only just.

“Just want my son to be a real man, not a fag,” she said. “I have many gay friends. I believe that being gay is all still better than murderers, thieves or drug addicts. If you choose out of all this, being gay a little better than the rest.”

After heated backlash to Volkova’s comments, Katina took to social media to distance herself from her former bandmate’s views.

“I am seeing some comments lately regarding my position about LGBT and my religion,” she wrote on Facebook overnight. “I can say one thing: God is teaching us to live in love, to be tolerant and not to judge other people! And I do so!

“Love is love and it is a wonderful feeling! I think everybody should be free to love who they love and be with who they want to spend their life with!”
