‘This was no average school fight’: Ambulance called after incident at Taminmin College

A DARWIN rural school has responded after a ‘vicious’ incident where a 13-year-old boy was pulled to the ground and repeatedly punched by a senior student on Friday.

The NT News understands a Year 8 boy at Taminmin College was left momentarily unconscious after a Year 12 male student approached and attacked him during school.

St John Ambulance paramedics were called to the college in response to the incident and the Year 8 boy was taken to Palmerston Regional Hospital.

The school did not report the incident to the police and school-based police officer based at the college was not on school grounds at the time of the incident.

Several angry parents took to social media to vent their concerns about the fight, including one mother who said the ordeal made her “skin curl.”

“This was not the average school fight,” she said.

“It was vicious, violent and unprovoked.”

One parent claimed the Year 12 boy used a one-litre Yeti water bottle as a weapon.

Taminmin College issued a statement in relation to the incident on Facebook.

“There was an incident at our school today involving some of our students,” the statement said.

“We are working with the parents of each of the students involved and assisting where appropriate.

“Violence and bullying of any kind is not condoned in our school, and we take matters like these very seriously.
