EIGHT Charles Darwin University international students have deferred their studies in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

A CDU spokeswoman said the university accommodated the needs of students after a handful advised they couldn’t travel to Darwin due to restrictions.

“We have been working closely with our students in China to provide them with information about the options available to minimise the impact of Australia’s current travel restrictions on their studies,” she said.

“A total of 36 students have elected to study online while eight have chosen to defer their enrolments until Semester 2.

“The 36 students have begun their online studies and are receiving support from the academic and professional areas of Charles Darwin University.”

The spokeswoman said CDU had not experienced any other issues with students studying internally and externally, with the university strictly following the Australian Government’s advice for coronavirus prevention.
