STRANDED Chinese students set to return to Charles Darwin University for the new semester are unable to travel due to restrictions in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
A CDU spokeswoman said a handful of their international students have advised that they can’t travel due to coronavirus travel restrictions.
“At this stage we do not have an exact number for students affected by the travel restrictions because most of our students are not expected back on campus or in class until late this month and early next month,” she said.
“CDU is contacting all potentially affected students to ascertain their whereabouts, whether they are in any way affected and to determine the support we can provide them.
“The university has had contact with a small number of commencing and continuing students who are unable to travel currently.
“If necessary, affected students will be able to defer their studies to a later semester.
“CDU also has been ensuring and testing the availability of our online learning platforms in China so we can support students to continue their studies online.”
The first semester is due to start on March 2.
