THE principal of Darwin’s prestigious Haileybury Rendall School, who led the new school’s establishment after it took over the old Kormilda College, has celebrated his last day after three years at the helm.
Craig Glass and his wife Kerry Glass, who is the school’s deputy principal, are returning to Melbourne to start an education consulting business and spend more time with family.
Mr Glass said he had been senior vice-principal of Haileybury in Melbourne when the opportunity arose to set up a new school in Darwin in 2018.

He said his proudest achievements as principal included overseeing a huge cultural change at the school, growing enrolments from 250 to 770 in just three years and offering Territory parents and students a high-quality academic experience comparable to schools in southern cities.
“When I arrived, morale was low because most people had left because they didn’t know if the school had a future,” he said.
”We had three goals — academic excellence, high expectations and building community — and I think we’ve been pretty successful in those.
“Kids, parents and teachers are very proud of being part of the school now.”
