CDU officially announces former head of CQUniversity Scott Bowman as new Vice-Chancellor

CHARLES Darwin University has officially announced the appointment of former head of CQUniversity Professor Scott Bowman AO as the university’s new Vice-Chancellor and President.

CHARLES Darwin University has officially announced the appointment of former head of CQUniversity Professor Scott Bowman AO as the university’s new Vice-Chancellor and President.

Professor Bowman will start his new role in May 2021 following the resignation of current Vice-Chancellor Simon Maddocks last September.

It comes after the NT News revealed Professor Bowman was the preferred candidate for the role after the interview panel had three strong applicants.

Currently the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Western Sydney University, Professor Bowman has previously served as Vice-Chancellor and President of Central Queensland University, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Registrar at James Cook University.

He began his professional life as a radiographer in the UK where he’s from before starting his teaching and lecturing career.

Professor Bowman came to Australia to take up the position of Head of the School of Clinical Sciences at Charles Sturt University and holds a Master of Politics and Government, a PhD in Clinical Decision Making and a Master of Business Administration.

CDU’s Chancellor, the Honourable Paul Henderson AO said he was thrilled to have Professor Bowman on board.

“Scott brings vast amounts of experience and knowledge to this role, having served as Vice-Chancellor and President of another dual-sector institution, Central Queensland University, for almost 10 years,” Mr Henderson said
