The annual exam was scrapped last year due to COVID-19, but 13,000 students from years three, five, seven and nine are set to sit the exam on individual laptops.
Speaking at Stuart Park State School this morning, Education Minister Lauren Moss said a lot of preparation has been taking place in schools to ensure the new system is rolled out smoothly.
“Between the 11th and the 21st of May, we will have all of those Territory students using the online platform through either a high bandwidth, or a low or no bandwidth solution,” she said.
“We wish all of the Territory students all the best and just remind them to just do your best as you do every day at school.”
Member for Fong Lim Mark Monaghan said it was important for kids not to be stressed about the exam
“What NAPLAN is about is collecting data. It’s data for improvement, data for governments to include resources going forward.
“So it’s not a case of these tests defining children. What defines children are their personalities, their parents, their backgrounds.”
