THE Royal Darwin Show has been confirmed to go ahead as planned this year, but with Covid-19 restrictions and social distancing measures in place.

The show will run from July 22-24 at the Darwin Showgrounds and Exhibition Centre in Winnellie.

It comes after the Alice Springs Show was cancelled last week, just three days before it was scheduled to occur.

The show’s cancellation came off the back of a Covid-19 outbreak at a Tanami gold mine that sparked lockdowns in Darwin and Alice Springs.

The Tennant Creek Show, which was due to kick off on Friday, has also been cancelled.

However, the Katherine Show & Rodeo was yesterday confirmed to go ahead on July 16-17 as scheduled, following a committee meeting on Monday night.
