THE TRIP of a lifetime has been cut short for some travellers on The Ghan as Covid-19 restrictions have played havoc with their travel plans.
ABC Darwin is reporting passengers on board The Ghan who have been in New South Wales in the past 14 days have been booted from the train as South Australia’s border controls mean they are not allowed to enter the State.
It is not yet clear how many people have been forced off the train.

According to The Ghan operator Journey Beyond, passengers have been given the option to fly home from Alice Springs or catch the northbound train back to Darwin.
The train left Darwin on Wednesday at 10am and arrived in Alice Springs this morning.
The hard border restrictions between SA and NSW came into effect on Wednesday at 1.41pm.
