Dozens of Territory kids will be riding high this Christmas thanks to a donation from one of the NT’s biggest businesses.
Halikos Construction has this year maintained a decade-long tradition buying and assembling pushbikes for kids and teenagers across the Territory.
For the past 10 years Halikos has supported the Salvation Army providing children’s bikes and food.
The company’s management and staff buy the bikes in pieces then put them together in their own time.
This year, 30 bikes suitable for children and teens were assembled.
Salvation Army NT’s Sally Courtney paid tribute to Halikos for getting into the Christmas cheer.
“Children and teenagers all love to own a bike and they can be expensive to buy, particularly for families that have several children, therefore we are extremely grateful to have these donated by Halikos Construction,” Ms Courtney said.
“Without the generous support of a number of local businesses and community clubs, we would not be in the position to have enough toys and gifts to meet the increasing demand each Christmas”.
The Salvation Army’s community centre in Anula is the collection point for all donated toys and food.
Donations can be made at www.salvationarmy.org.au or over the counter at any Salvos Store in the NT.
